YES, I wish to become involved with the Community Learning and Business Partnership (CLBP).  I understand that I do not need to participate in all areas, just those checked on the reverse side.  In addition, I understand that I do not always have to say “yes” when contacted.  I am aware that there may be some specific requirements to be met when meeting with learners.

Please complete the following checklist, indicating those areas in which you would be willing to commit.

Goals: Teachers, parents, employers and community organization, working together, will provide opportunities for learners to gain a realistic, experience-based understanding of a wide variety of careers. This exploration of career aspirations, involving classroom training connected to work/service experiences, helps learners understand employer/community organization expectations and realize the skills that are required in the work/service setting. Many businesses and organizations in this area are already providing different resources that will allow learners to move beyond the boundaries of the classroom and prepare them to take on the challenges of the worplace or further education. To that extent, I am willing to participate in the following areas:
Guest Speakers: A company/organization speaks to a class or group of learners about their occupation.
Tours: A company/organization hosts student visits to observe their operation.
Job Shadowing: Short-term visits to a work site where a learner observes a worker's daily activities, and learns the details and responsibilities of a job.
Mentoring: An experienced professional is matched with a learner who shares similar career interests. The mentor serves as a role model and friend to the learner, offering guidance and encouragement regarding career opportunities and decisions.
Mock Interviews: A company/organization will give a student a "pretend" interview to prepare them for a real one.
Cooperative Work Experience: A paid, formalized work experience linking high school students with a business, industry or organization through relevant school and work-based learning. Learners benefit from dynamic work experiences and acquire new skills needed on the job.
Student Internship: Short-term, paid or unpaid, placement in a work setting for a student. Provides the student the opportunity to gain transferable skills and training.
Teacher Externship: Purpose is to allow teachers to gain valuable insight and experience with a local business or organization to bring their real-world experiences to their classrooms.
Service Learning Connection: Purpose is to partner with teachers and classrooms to help students use and apply academic knowledge to meet community needs. These experiences will include preparation and reflection on the service-learning experience.
Participation on a Community Learning & Business Partnership Committee.
