Groundhog Job Shadow Day

A fun and educational opportunity!!

February 2, 2001

Job Shadow Day 2001 was the biggest ever, with over one million students and thousands of businesses participating nationwide.

Job Shadowing gives students across America the chance to “shadow” a workplace mentor as he or she goes through a normal day on the job.  This gives young people a chance to see how the skills learned in school relate to the workplace.  Job Shadowing can become the link between academics and careers, answering the commonly asked question, “Why do I have to learn this?”

For employers, Job Shadowing offers the opportunity to help students explore career options, establish goals, and learn what it takes to achieve them. In addition, it provides businesses with an opportunity to help build their own long-term workforce.

The Community Learning and Business Partnership, Junior Achievement of Rochester, the Rochester Public Schools, and Children First & FACES Collaborative joined together to provide this opportunity to 71 high school students from Rochester and Hayfield, Minnesota.
